I'll admit it's harsh, but it's part of the reason why I called the nice sound "superficial". Just hearing her breathing is painful to me because it's technically wrong. There are too many singers who attempt opera incorrectly and within some years their voice is gone and permanently ruined.

Maria Callas was a wonderful dramatic soprano. Listen to her sing "Un bel di" and she blows your mind. The impressive thing about her singing Carmen is that it's so not for her voice type, and yet she manages to pull it off.
On the other hand, of COURSE Elina Garanca is better at Carmen, she's a mezzo!
(Disclaimer = I absolutely adore Garanca, she is my idol.? I just don't think it's fair to compare Callas to her.)

Aria responds personally? on Facebook. She is a high mezzo and is just releasing an EP. The low notes you mentioned are really well below her range. The song Dolce has a really wide tessitura and is difficult to sing.

I think? if anything the support and projection needed to be worked on at this point. Because this song is not meant to be sung into a microphone and even with the microphone it was hard to hear her at some points. But the potential was definitely there. I'm curious as to where she is in her singing career now?

Sorry, but if you want to be named true opera singer you must sing in complete, proffesional opera performances, not only concerts. Like Alois Mühlbacher (Barbara, Alcina). Jackie Evancho is very tallented, but I dont believe, that he will be able to sing as Oberto when? she become 14 years old singer... Sorry for my poor english.
