BJJ is? not effective in a real fight : 1 - You can't deal with more than one opponent if you go to the ground 2 - Let's say it's 1 VS 1 : In the street, the? ground isn't your comfortable tatamis. And in a real fight, there is no rule, you can't keep the fight on the ground : You can bite, you can pinch, lacerate flesh, strike to the eyes, in the balls (Especially in mount) behind the neck,? touch the spinal chord, catch the groin.. don't get me started on this. royce was a pioneer, and he is the reason i even gave a sport like mma a chance. i can't say? enough about him. without him, i would have never even started my first jiu jitsu classes or become a fan of any combat sports like boxing at all. that being said, even royce in his prime couldn't have hung with some of the brilliant athletes to come out of jiu jitsu in his era or ones to follow. gi, or no-gi.

There are some very good kung fu systems,many evolved from battlefield and streetfghting,in those situations the ground is the worse place to be.That said,they have NOT evolved to include ground fighting which gives kung fu a bad name which is a shame because there is many great? tools.Some modern day kung fu instructors have embraced ground fighting. Those who have not will have to rely on students feeding their egos and dupping the public.

My thoughts exactly. What if the nonBJJ fighter was allowed to bite/gouge and/or go for the eyes/groin? The BJJ practitioner gained an? unfair advantage in having the other guy fight under his rules. Try fighting under those rules with someone who has trained in neck hanging/iron crotch exercises, and see who comes out top; take on commandos trained in lethal combat. Fighting under different rules is just blatantly unfair. Try having the BJJ guy take on a boxer with boxing rules.

i have to agree with u.. bruce lee was a different fighter altogether.. he had a strong and firm mind which made him stand out from others... his moves were blazingly fast, many fighters who challenged him said after they were old and matured and after they lost all d ego of their youth that bruce lee was a superhuman fighter, all d boxing,muay thai crap didnt work on him, it was like if u even moved a hand, he would counter it with a punch or kick so fast, u wouldnt know what? hit u

Completely agree, Bruce Lee had the opportunity to? participate in full contact Muay Thai or kickboxing back in the day but for whatever reason he chose not to. I think Lee was smart enough to realize that if he lost a fight and it was captured on tape his viability as an action movie star would diminish.
