Davis decided to throw away everything written: the notes, the tempo, the lyrics, EVEN THE FINALE. Yes, he has stage presence and a good voice, but he's not singing "The Candyman." As far as I (and clearly a number of others) am concerned, he took "make the song your own" waaay too far.
