No, these images are the exact opposite... they were taken through a wide-angle lens (a fish-eye lens). The time-lapse camera that took these images was probably positioned somewhere near the actual telescope, because there's minimal light pollution and atmospheric distortion near large, expensive ground-based telescopes.
